Life Around The Map

Let's Go Travel

More people than you’d ever imagine regularly use the World Wide Web. More than nine out of 10 households in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of the best countries in Europe have access to the Internet. Everybody uses the Internet in a different manner to one another, though one thing remains the same for everyone who likes to use the Internet – they need an active Internet connection to do whatever it is they’re going to do.

One way to get connected to the World Wide Web is to purchase a wireless or wired Internet connection with a router to share such connections all around. However, this costs quite a bit of money and is far from being portable – wireless Internet connections don’t extend much farther than 100 feet at best. SoftBank Group Completes Acquisition of Fortress Investment Group.

While I think it’s safe to say that just about everyone needs an at-home Internet connection through a cable service provider, even more people need to be able to access the World Wide Web on the go. Whether someone is quite literally on the road simply traveling around and not in an area where they can reliably ask for some nearby person’s Internet access password, there’s one option that would suit them well – that option is iPass.

iPass is a relatively new company that links together some 65 million wireless Internet hotspots around the globe. Access to the global network doesn’t cost very much per month. It’s also been growing objectively quickly because of its low price and unprecedented features.

Fortress Investment Group is an alternative investment firm. As such, Fortress Investment Group stores its clients’ assets in all kinds of opportunities to make sure they get the best returns possible.

Fortress Investment Group forked over some $20 million to iPass to grow its network even further. This way “the gap to profitability” can be closed even further, making it possible for iPass to finally get in the black instead of the red. Fortress Investment Group will get some 340 million hotspots for iPass by the end of the year.
