George Soros is an investor, philanthropist, author, and a businessman born on August 12, 1930. He has two nationalities; an American and a Hungarian. He is one of the most successful investors in the world with a net worth of $25.2 billion. Born in Budapest to a Jewish family and later moved to England after 17 years. George Soros attended school at the London School of Economics where he graduated with a bachelor and masters in philosophy. His source of wealth is the Soros Fund management. Some of the core funding areas of the Soros Fund Management are humanitarian efforts, democratic ideals, education, economic development, and policy reform.

George Soros is one of the most famous philanthropists who funds different foundations that support individuals and organizations. His main aim is to fight for transparency, freedom of expression, accountable government, and the need to promote equality and justice. He seeks to support groups of people pushed to the margin of the mainstream society. Some of these people include sex workers, LGBTI people, and drug users. The Open Society Foundations is a network of partners, projects, and foundations in more than a hundred countries. In Soros book Open Society and Its Enemies, Karl Popper argues that philosophies or ideologies cannot be the final truth. He argues further that freedom of speech, democratic governance and the respect for individual rights are the main drives for the success in societies.

He later took a similar step of betting during the Asian Financial Crisis. As a result, he faced accusations of bringing down the value of the country by almost 15%. From here, George Soros became a target of different unfounded right-wing theories of conspiracy. According to the Business Insider, Joe Uscinski sees Soros story as interesting since most conspiracy theories about the people on the right tend to be made by those on the left.

He contributed politically by coming up with different democratic ideals which helped to weaken authoritarian regimes. The main goal of Soros was to promote democracy by promoting the free flow of ideas and information. He advocates for different humanitarian efforts including disability rights, national security, discrimination, and counterterrorism. He also supports educational programmes in higher education while supporting disadvantaged minorities.
